Growing up on Chicago’s south side exposed me to a very specific way of seeing things. The places I go to would have graffiti everywhere, and cover huge walls, using the most vibrant colors. I observed the style so much that I wanted to imitate it whenever possible. This influence makes me want to think of ways to push the perspective and use specific palettes of color to make the artwork fly off the page, just like the art on those walls.
Whenever I’m rendering a piece of artwork, I try to keep the style as fresh and contemporary as possible. Using anatomy, color theory, and dynamic perspective, I create artwork that demands the attention of the audience I designed it for.
